DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO PRO-HIGHER ED CANDIDATES AND GET A REFUND?

The Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) contract provides faculty with favorable working conditions, and the IFO’s advocacy work has led to valuable protections, support, and enhancements for our members and their families. So many, in fact, that sometimes it’s hard to follow everything you have available to you as a faculty member represented by the IFO.

In a series that will run throughout the year, we will explain briefly some of the benefits provided to you and resources to find more information. You can view all past Did You Know posts on our website

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO PRO-HIGHER EDUCATION CANDIDATES AND GET A REFUND FROM THE STATE?

Minnesota has the Political Contribution Refund Program which allows individuals to contribute to the campaigns of candidates for state-level offices. This program will provide you a refund of $50 per person/$100 per married couple after you contribute to a state campaign.

Here’s how PCR works:

  • Make a contribution(s) to a campaign of your choice (must be a state legislative campaign or state constitutional office) of up to $50 ($100 per married couple). The total amount may be split amongst multiple candidates.
  • Once the contribution is received by the campaign, they will send you a receipt for your contribution and the PCR refund application.
  • Complete the application and mail it along with the receipt to the address provided.
  • You will receive a direct deposit into the account you provide on the application from the MN Dept. of Revenue within a few weeks.

For more information about the program, you can visit the Department of Revenue’s website here.

If you wish to take advantage of this program please contact IFO Director of Public Affairs Jonathan Bohn USING YOUR PERSONAL (non-campus) EMAIL.

This program is important for faculty to take advantage of to assist candidates that support the mission, vision, and values of the IFO.

Your support of the IFO makes it possible to provide the advocacy needed for faculty facing challenges in the workplace. If you are not a member and are ready to join your colleagues, please click here. If you are unsure about your current membership status please click here.
