2020 IFO Presidential Election

The IFO will hold a presidential election beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, March 24 until Tuesday, April 10 at 4 p.m. The candidate receiving the most votes will serve as IFO president beginning on July 1, 2018 until June 30, 2020. Below is information about the announced candidate, including answers to a questionnaire submitted by the candidate. Below you will also find samples of the materials all members will receive in the mail to cast their vote. Candidate Information

 

Brent Jeffers

Brent Jeffers is an Exercise Science Faculty member from Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) where his principal teaching responsibilities include Anatomical Kinesiology, Biomechanics of Human Motion, and Motor Learning & Development.  He has served on many campus committees including: Academic Affairs, Liberal Arts/MnTC, Curriculum, LGBTQ, Long Range Planning, Strategic Planning, and for 21 consecutive years, he has been a member of the SmSUFA Executive Committee.  In Addition, Brent has participated in every IFO-MinnState contract this century, serving as the Southwest representative from 2000-2008 and serving as the Chair of the IFO Negotiating Team from 2008 to present.  Brent’s service reflects his strong commitment to a quality higher education system, equity and fairness for faculty, and positive experiences for students.

Prior to becoming a full-time teaching faculty member, Brent served as SMSU’s Head Men’s & Women’s Track Coach (1989-1993), Assistant Football Coach (1989-1993), and Head Football Coach (1993-1996).  Before coming to SMSU, he was the Head Football Coach at Inver Hill Community College (1987-1989).  Brent’s reputation in these leadership roles is well known for integrity, honesty, and fairness. 

Brent earned his Associate of Arts Degree from Inver Hills Community College, his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Bemidji State University, and his Master’s Degree in Sport Science from Bemidji State University.  He and his wife, Mary, live in Apple Valley and they enjoy Bed & Breakfast vacations, spending time with their three adult children, and time with their four dogs.
