The IFO is currently accepting applications for a faculty member to serve as the IFO Academic Affairs Coordinator to coordinate committee representatives to Minnesota State Committees and provide overall support on academic affairs issues within the union. This position is equivalent to 15 credits, 63% time and involves coordinating the IFO representation on Minnesota State Committees, serving on committees such as the Academic Affairs Council and Transfer Governance Team, and meeting with representatives in the Minnesota State System Office to stay abreast of issues. The position is available to faculty currently serving at any of the Minnesota State Universities in tenured, probationary, or fixed term appointments. The successful applicant will receive 15 credits of release time from their home campus, accordingly.
The position is a 2-year term beginning August 2024 and ending June 2026.

Position Description for Academic Affairs Coordinator
IFO Academic Affairs Coordinator 2-year term (FY25-FY26):
Supervisor: IFO President
Length of Term: August 2024 – June 2026
Compensation: This is a 15 credit or 63% time position. The IFO will secure release time from the faculty member’s home campus for 15 credits per academic year. The faculty member retains the duty day calendar and other benefits ascribed to faculty under the IFO contract.
General Assignment: Primary responsibilities include managing the IFO’s academic interests through ensuring representation across a wide range of committees, leading academic projects, and providing updates and reports to the IFO President, Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Specific Duties:
1. Coordinating the IFO’s representation on Minnesota State councils and committees by
a. calling on the Local Associations to nominate and verify IFO membership;
b. bringing the nominees to the IFO Board for appointment;
c. providing IFO appointees with information about their committees and responsibilities;
d. maintaining the list of IFO members serving as representatives to committees.
2. Tracking the work of the Minnesota State councils and committees to
a. bring issues of concern to the IFO forward to the President and Board;
b. support and consult with IFO members serving on the committees on concerns;
c. make IFO members serving on committees aware of positions taken by the IFO.
3. Presenting Academic Affairs Reports at all IFO Board meetings that include:
a. any nominees for committees requiring Board action for appointment;
b. summaries of the work of academic committees, with concerns noted;
c. summaries of other pertinent issues.
4. Serving as the IFO point person on all issues related to transfer by:
a. representing the IFO on the Transfer Governance Team;
b. consulting with faculty on transfer concerns and issues;
c. working with IFO leadership to identify positions on transfer issues.
5. Representing the IFO on the Minnesota State Academic Affairs Council.
6. Initiating and responding to meetings with individuals and groups from Minnesota State as needed to address issues and concerns.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. IFO Member in a tenured, probationary or fixed term position;
2. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and competency in issues of equity and inclusion in academic affairs;
3. Excellent communication skills with demonstrated timely follow through on complicated projects;
4. Ability to multitask and work with deadlines;
5. Self-directed yet able to work with teams;
6. Understands the role of serving as the representative of the IFO on Minnesota State committees;
7. Strengths would include experience in any or all of the following: curriculum and program development, service on a Transfer Pathway Team or work on articulation agreements, outcomes-based education, faculty development, coordination of projects across institutions and work on state/national education issues.
